Son House, “Death Letter Blues (Live)”

Though I’d wanted to buy a resonator guitar since I first learned to play at sixteen, this video was the final push I needed to buy one this year. Now if only I could play like him. His technique absolutely amazes me in this video, which presumably dates from around the time of his “rediscovery” in the early 1960s by members of the blues-rock band Canned Heat. The contrast between his rough style of play and the intracies of the sounds he manages to make is amazing. His raw sounding vocal technique is also excellent here. Enough praise, enjoy.
