Justin Townes Earle, “Harlem River Blues”

The son of Steve Earle, Justin Townes Earle is a formidable singer-songwriter in his own right. Staying away from the politicized alt.country his father has been pursuing of late, Justin Townes Earle’s music veers more towards the nostalgic, conjuring the sounds of an idealized late-night radio station during the 1950s. I absolutely love this video of him performing “Harlem River Blues” on Letterman. Great song, great performance, great brown suit. It’s time for some gospel inflected awesome, dig it!
