Janis Martin, “Drugstore Rock’N’Roll” (1956)

Consider this the Christmas carol antidote: though the song has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, there’s just something about it that feels like holiday music. The same can be said of much of Janis Martin’s catlogue. So, if you’re sick of hearing the same dozen songs over and over again in different iterations, but haven’t turned into a total Scrooge yet, give Janis Martin a listen below. Her entire recorded output is available from Bear Family Records under the title The Female Elvis: Complete Recordings, 1956-60.
