This is definitely one of my favourite pop tracks from the 1960s. It exists in the same category of minor-key pop perfection as “Time of the Season” by the Zombies: a baroque-pop dirge layered with rich production and spot-on harmonies. It’s really a pity that pop songs of this depth and originality are so few and far between. Regardless, it’s a perfect companion for lamenting the slow descent of winter, and wishing you were someplace warmer. Enjoy the video for a ‘live’ television appearance below. Watch out for the hidden go-go dancers!
