Black Ace, “Christmas Time Blues” (1937)

Continuing with yesterday’s Christmas theme, it’s time for some pre-war Texas slide guitar blues. Presenting the champion of Texas slide guitar, the Black Ace playing his “Christmas Time Blues” from 1937. As well, check out a video of Black Ace playing self-referential track, “I am the Black Ace.” I understand that the woman and child in the video are probably the Black Ace’s family, but I love how the whole tableau looks as though the Black Ace just wandered into their home and started playing. And nothing says Christmas quite like surprise home-invasions. Santa Claus anyone?
